Original Abstract

Optical properties of a material are usually determined by its sctucture and chemical composition. Coloration of wings of certain butteflies depends on the morphology of these wings. In this paper we investigated the morphology of blue bright and deep black colored wings using atomic force miscrosopy in semi-contact regime. The images demonstrate wings using quasi-ordered micro- and nao-structures. Similarly colred surfaces produce the same statistical histograms which confirms the connection between coloration of wings and their morphology.. These results may find their application in preparation of surfaces with excellent optical properties as well as coatings whose color depends on an angle.
