Original Abstract

A suitable way of characterizing antennas in a wide band of frequencies is investigated. First, a canonical antenna is characterized by conventional parameters in the frequency domain (directivity pattern, gain, input impedance) on each separate harmonics, and their mean value counterparts are formulated and discussed. Second, the analysis is performed in the time domain, and following the frequency domain characterization, time-domain parameters are formulated. The correspondence between frequency-domain parameters and time-domain ones is shown using Parseval’s theorem. Third, sources of analysis inaccuracies in both the domains are discussed, and ways of suppressing them directly in the domain of analysis are proposed.
