Original Abstract

The objective of the paper consists of a theoretical prediction of radiative heat transfer in arc plasmas of air at various temperatures and pressures. Main radiation quantities, namely radiation intensity, flux density and its divergence, will be determined in cylindrical arc plasmas. As a mathematical tool for the radiation field prediction, method of partial characteristics will be used, which is capable to describe simultaneously both radiation emission at the central parts of the plasma and absorption at the outer cooler regions. Extension of the developed models by radiative transfer predicted by the method of partial characteristics will influence the industrial development of circuit breakers or plasmatrons.
