Original Abstract

Algorithms enhancing the useful audio signal at the expense of background interference noise have become a topical problem. Most important of all is to improve methods working in real time. The spectrogram mapping method is a comparatively simple and for some kinds of additive noise very effective method. Its great disadvantage is the necessity to process long signal segments. Spectrogram mapping is based on the statistical properties of stochastic interference, for an accurate estimate of which a long signal segment needs to be assessed. For the spectrogram mapping method to be applicable to real-time digital signal processing, a different mapping method needs to be found. A potential modification of the method consists in using the predictive analysis of audio signal for spectrum mapping.
