Architektura se jako každý jiný obor vyvíjí. Protože architektonické dílo je syntézou vědy a umění, klíčovou roli v jejím vývoji hrají jak nové technologie, postupy a materiály, tak současné pojetí prostoru, ideálů krásy a ducha doby. U progresívních architektonických děl mnohdy záleží jen na citu architekta pro hmotné a nehmotné části návrhu a schopnosti jejich harmonizování a docílení optimálního vztahu základních elementů formální kompozice architektonického díla (zejména prostoru, hmoty a formy). Tato práce se pro jednoznačnější porovnatelnost věnuje pouze stavbám, jejichž nosný systém je na bázi dřeva. U dřeva je dále oproti ostatním materiálům velký potenciál na poli trvale udržitelného rozvoje. Při analýzách struktury a architektonického prostoru těchto staveb lze vysledovat několik základních směrů, které se pak dále rozvíjejí (větví na odvozené struktury), přičemž základní princip zůstává zachován. Z výsledků lze dovodit určité základní rysy, charakteristické pro daný materiál a následně predikovat budoucí vývoj struktur. Na základě dalšího výzkumu lze odhalit další možnosti stávajících struktur, anebo zcela nové prostorové a strukturální formy.

Architecture is evolving like any other industry. Because the architectural work is a synthesis of science and art, the key role in its development is played by new technologies, processes and materials, as well as contemporary conception of space, the ideals of beauty and the spirit of the time. Progressive architectural works often depend only on the sense of the architect for the tangible and intangible parts of the design and the ability to harmonize them and to achieve the optimal relation of the basic elements of the formal composition of the architectural work (especially space, matter and form). This work is made for more comparable comparability only for constructions whose support system is wood-based. Wood is also a great potential for sustainability in comparison with other materials. In analysing the structure and architectural space of these constructions, several basic directions can be traced, which are then further developed (branches to derived structures), while the basic principle remains preserved. From the results we can deduce some basic features characteristic of the material and then predict the future development of the structures. Based on further research, other possibilities of existing structures or completely new spatial and structural forms can be revealed.
