Original Abstract

Each EHL contact operating under starved conditions can provide stable conditions only due to an established equilibrium between a lubricant loss and a replenishment. The equilibrium together with the operating conditions and the lubricant properties defines the starvation level under which the contact works. These aspects are quite well known in case of liquid lubrication, but more complex in case of greases because of their complex rheology. This study presents experimental investigation of the grease aging influence on the in-contact replenishment effect. Moreover, the comparison between replenishment behavior for base oils and greases with the same oils in the structure is included together with the study of the behavior of the oils bleeded from the grease.
