Original Abstract

Metallothionein has high content of thiol groups (–SH) for interaction with elements and to participate in signalizing, detoxification and other functions. Selenite in form of sodium selenite becomes source of oxidation stress when it is metabolized by proteins with -SH. Interaction between metalothionein and sodium selenite is investigated by Brdička reaction, which is generally used for determination of proteins with -SH. It was evaluated influence of sodium selenite on MT and its biding properties.
