Original Abstract

The paper reports on the development of a laser beam acquisition, pointing and tracking (APT) system for Free Space Optics communication. The system can be used for compensating image jitter at the focal plane of the receiving optics as well as vibration of the receiver and transmitter terminal due to wind or mechanical distraction. The presented APT system consists of a Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) Mirror combined with gimbal to cover both fine and high amplitude laser beam mechanical deviations. As laser beam position sensitive detector sensor, a fiber bundle consisting of multiple multi-mode fiber cores is utilized. At the end of the article, the parameters and properties of the system are presented.
