Original Abstract

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are biodegradable alternatives to petrochemical-based plastic. From a chemical point of view, PHAs are polyesters of hydroxy fatty acids which may be produced by bacteria. The aim of the experiments was to evaluate the PHA accumulation capabilities of Halomonas halophila.
