The paper presents an original authentication scheme for physical access control systems and the results of its implementation. Compared to existing cryptographic access control systems, our scheme and implementation provides strong security, fast authentication and easy deployment into present systems using off-the-shelf hardware, in particular existing programmable smart-cards.
