Original Abstract

An original model based on Eulerian-Lagrangian approach for moving vehicles was developed and applied to pollutants dispersion around a middle city ring Bauerova in the city of Brno. The model takes into account traffic density and speed of cars and their changes in time and individual traffic lanes. The model was integrated into a commercial CFD code StarCD. The measurements were done during October 2001 as a part of a field campaign organized by the city of Brno municipal government. In total 5 different institutions with their mobile monitoring stations took part. The monitoring stations were located in a close vicinity of the ring in 5 different locations. The computational model represents an area of approximately 1km x 1.4 km. Results of the predictions are compared with measurements of NOx concentrations in transient situation when both traffic and meteorological conditions change.
