Original Abstract

The paper introduces a special emulator of memristive, memcapacitive and meminductive systems as well as higher-order elements from Chua's periodical table and other two-terminal devices. The type of emulated device can be programmed into the microcontroller memory on the basis of the circuit equations of the element. In spite of the commonly claimed universality of digital emulators, some interesting limitations due to the instability issue are implied. As a consequence, the core of the emulator is replenished with three types of interface, which extends the stable operation when emulating a broad class of two-terminal devices of resistive, inductive, and capacitive nature. The emulator potential is demonstrated on examples of the emulation of two bipolar memristive systems with voltage threshold, interconnected in a network for evaluating the maximum of two analog signals, and also on examples of the emulation of meminductive and memcapacitive threshold-type systems.
