Original Abstract

This paper deals with numerical investigation of the effect the basic gearbox parameters have on surface vibrations. The thin top cover of gearbox housing is used intentionally, to detect even the smallest changes in the observed surface normal velocity. First, the predefined simulation methodology based on Multi-body system approach is developed and verified by an appropriate experiment for run-up sweep with constant loading torque held over the specified rotational speed range. The surface normal velocity is evaluated and used as the main assessing parameter during the whole procedure. The main goal of this study is to focus on the variable motor torque acting on the input side. The methodology can be generally utilized in the design phase or when a real problem is investigated during the machine operation.
