Original Abstract

The paper deals with statistical analysis of resistance of a hot-rolled steel IPE beam under bending. The Latin Hypercube Sampling method is used to construct computer experiments. The lateral-torsional buckling stability problem of imperfect beam is described. The influence of bending moments and warping torsion on the behaviour of the IPE beam with imperfections is analyzed. The resistance is calculated by means of the close form solution. The change of mean value and of variance of resistance was studied in dependence on the beam length. There was determined the value of nondimensional slenderness, for which the value of the variance of resistance is maximum. The problems of ultimate limit state are studied in connection with the random variability of bimoment and of bending moment around the minor axis.
