Original Abstract

The paper deals with geometrically nonlinear analysis of sway and non-sway frames with random imperfections. Special attention is focused on the initial crookedness and out-of-plumb inclinations of the columns. The static resistance is the output of nonlinear model. The resistance of imperfect steel portal frames is analyzed via Sobol sensitivity analysis. Sobol sensitivity analysis is able to provide the impacts of each imperfection and its interactions with other imperfections on the model output. A significant advantage of the Sobol sensitivity analysis is its capacity to identify the influence of stochastic interactions among initial imperfections. The sensitivity analysis outputs, and the identification of interaction effects among input imperfections in particular are important from the point of view of detailed understanding of summation influence of imperfections on the structure reliability.
