Purpose of the article is to provide an overview of the original ideas and theoretical approaches in the field of leadership within management. The aim of presented study is to define the differences between management and leadership. Subsequently to provide an overview of previously published studies in the field of leadership theory. The contribution is seen in identification of the different approaches and schools of thought to obtain holistic view and the ability to perceive leadership as part of management in all its contexts.
