Original Abstract

People have breathing problems nowadays and therefore it is very important to monitor the quality of breathing. It is important to focus on deep and complex breathing - using all types of breathing (thoracic, abdominal, subclavian). Virtual reality is very widespread in rehabilitation. One of the newest (reasonably priced) virtual reality approaches is Microsoft Kinect. Kinect allows your console or PC to track your movements in real time. We used the Kinect for automatic detection of three areas of breathing. The system automatically detects three breathing zone. For detection is used Kinect Skeletal Tracking especially collarbone, shoulder, hip. This area is then divided into three areas according to the physiology of respiration. In these areas, the system records the change in depth - the size of inspiration. Detection of three areas with is rapid and sufficient for the application used. Biofeedback is a very widespread method in medicine, especially in rehabilitation. Rehabilitation can be made in a fun way. It is shown that the combined breathing quiets and calms the entire nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety and improving self-awareness. System has been designed for automatic detection of three areas respiration. In these areas is measured variation of the distance from the sensor (Kinect). System with automatic detection of the three areas of breathing can be used to diagnose breathing or breathing training complex. People can verify how breathing, or breathing can train.
