Original Abstract

The Study analyses the conduct of several drivers while driving over pedestrian crossings at night. The monitored vehicle drives over horizontally and vertically marked pedestrian crossing in a town, which is illuminated from the right side of the vehicle’s driving direction. Abilities of driver’s perception were influenced by the not quite suitable crosswalk arrangement as well as by cluttered surroundings near the crosswalk. The results of the analysis are then compared to the results of extensive driving tests conducted in real road traffic, in 2014. Optical reactions of drivers were measured by using eyetracking method. Changes in the driver’s perspective were measured by using a special device named Viewpointsystem®, GmbH. The driver’s conduct in definite traffic scenario, driver’s reaction to crossing pedestrians, driver’s watching period of crossing pedestrians as well as driver’s reaction to another significant stimulus were evaluated. The vehicle controlling was monitored using another sensors in the vehicle.
