Original Abstract

Much has been written about the depletion of IANAs pool of IPv4 addresses and the needs of urgent transition to IPv6. Several of the biggest content and service providers have enabled IPv6, however, there is still the lack of information about worldwide IPv6 adoption and quality of services that are measured in large scale. The aim of this paper is to present our methodology to measure penetration and quality of IPv6 adoption amongst web, mail and DNS service providers. The system is built to provide an open online access to IPv6 adoption overview for the whole community. The paper discusses our methodology and measurement system and compares them with other known solutions. The analysis of collected data is presented to help to understand the IPv6 penetration.
