The paper presents research and development of the alternative, environmentally friendly and energetically efficient CNG internal combustion engine. This new developed engine for transport and industry applications with wide range engine speeds uses innovative variable electronic control and multipoint injection systems. The engine is proposed as a single fuel and it provides a competitive advantage on the world market for the target engine category. The presented CNG internal combustion engine joins together small company dealing with a development of engine prototypes, the biggest suppliers of transport and industry powertrains and top Czech research center in the areas of internal combustion engines and electronic control systems.
