Original Abstract

Computer simulation is a very popular engineering tool for describing and modelling phenomena occurring in real life and allows us to quickly obtain the basic characteristics of the studied system. In this work, we studied the possibilities of numerical simulations of lithium ion batteries. We focus on the use of secondary power sources. The lithium-ion battery is an ideal candidate for a wide variety of applications due to its high energy/power density and operating voltage. The article presents the mathematical formulation of physics-based lithium ion battery and structure of the governing equations in Comsol Multiphysics and Matlab Simulink programs. The real lithium ion battery is compared with simulation results and with real measurements. For numerical study in Comsol Multiphysics, which works with finite element method, 2D geometry model was used.
