Original Abstract

The paper is focused on optimization of ultimate capacity increase of reinforced concrete bridge. Strengthening is proposed by concreting above of the bridge deck on both sides of the deck. Two parameters are optimized: Height of concrete layer and the quality of concrete used. Ultimate capacity is determined by software tools of nonlinear fracture mechanics, the optimization is performed by pseudo-stochastic optimization approach based on Latin Hypercube Sampling. Resulting alternative of ultimate capacity increase is assessed fully probabilistically.
