Original Abstract

The cognitive radio technology allows solving one of the main issues of current wireless communication technologies, namely a deficit of vacant spectrum. A dynamic spectrum access used in the cognitive radio networks (CRN) give an ability to access to an unused spectrum in real time. In this work we analyzed the performance of energy detector spectrum sensing algorithm in CRN (especially for the IEEE 802.22 standard) to be used on USRP devices with GNU Radio and Matlab. Key characteristics of an energy detector, such as probabilities of detection and false alarm, were calculated and their dependence on signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) was investigated.
