Original Abstract

In computation models, the yield strength is often introduced constant both along the beam length and its cross-section. The question arises to what extent this simplification is realistic when calculating the load-carrying capacity of a member. Several introduction variants of variable yield strength limit along cross-section by using the so-called random fields are demonstrated. In effort to take into consideration also the influences of all the other imperfections as exactly as possible, load-carrying capacity was determined by geometrically and physically non-linear solution using the program ANSYS. A beam with cross-section IPE 300 of relative slenderness ë=0.6 was solved for which a high yield strength influence on load-carrying capacity can be supposed.
