Original Abstract

In this article, we compare four digestion methods used to determine total phosphorus in river sediments, including Na2CO3 fusion, the H2SO4 and H2SO4 + H2O2 methods, and the SMT protocol. We analysed the interference of iron, calcium, and organic matter making up river sediments, and the substances contained in the digestion agents, with the photometric determination of the phosphates. The digestion methods were tested on a collection of ten river sediment samples. Statistical analysis of the results showed significant differences between sample treatments relating to the mean total phosphorus concentration
