Original Abstract

The vision of medicine is to know and understand the genome of each patient. Based on this knowledge, the susceptibility to diseases can be determined. Nearly 45 % of the human genome consists of repetitive sequences. The multiplication of a repetitive pattern is often related to a number of diseases. The work deals with the study of methods for finding repeats in DNA sequences using digital signal processing methods, mainly with analysis of DNA in frequency domain. The importance of amplitude and phase spectra is described and setting up the appropriate parameters for detection of tandem repeats from the spectra.
