Original Abstract

The article is focused on a new method for automatic detection of significant curves of face in areas of the upper and lower jaws. Detecting significant points and facial lines is important for preoperative examination and preparation of the patient having an peration in the field of orthognathic surgery. Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a process in which congenital dentofacial deformities, posttraumatic and post resection deformities are corrected with surgical operations of the facial skeleton, sometimes combined with various soft tissue procedures. A new method for the automated detection of facial lines in X-ray images will be used to diagnose the disease and to accelerate and facilitate the planning of a specific individual surgical procedure.
