Original Abstract

Historical buildings require a specific indoor climate to preserve their maximum authenticity, especially when there is a valuable fresco decoration in the historical building. Such a sample in the Czech Republic is the Romanesque St. Catherine rotunda in Znojmo. The most suitable microclimate for such objects with a fresco decoration is defined in UNI 10829:1999, which results from long-time experience of Italian specialists. Parameters recommended by an Italian standard are theoretically tested by the BSim simulation in local climatic conditions. A detailed numerical simulation also takes into account an impact of the floor heating system, which heats the Romanesque rotunda object in the winter period. Results obtained from the BSim simulation are subsequently compared with actually measured data in the rotunda object.
