Collaboration with researchers at BUT
Consultations, measurements, analyses, contract research, seeking a partner for R&D project.
Either you can directly contact a particular department or faculty of BUT, or contact the Technology Transfer Office, if you do not know who to address or if you prefer to use the services of a businessman`s guide in academia environment. The Technology Transfer Office supports collaboration between BUT and industry. The Office employs 5 Technology Transfer Managers oriented in a specific field, whose role is to find partners for contract research, R&D projects and consultations, organize a meeting between BUT experts and industry, recommend suitable form of cooperation, provide basic servicing and are further available with advice or help, all according to the needs of the company.
Consultation, measurement, analysis and contract research are all provided based on contract of work or similar type of agreement. The order is managed directly by the executing department. Individual faculties use their own forms, the signatory power is with the faculty management. Most of the faculties employ a lawyer; however, you can also use services of a legal expert at the Technology Transfer Office for the less standard collaboration model.
R&D projects funded by grants are managed directly by a project manager from the respective department, although the signatory power for project proposals and project agreements rests with the Rector. BUT has a standard portfolio of model contracts, including Non Disclosure Agreement, Consortium agreement and Use of the project results agreement. BUT internal directives regulate the whole System of commercialization of R&D results, including confidential information and trade secret protection, as well as the protection of intellectual property. The Technology Transfer Office ensures the protection of the industrial property and helps with contract drafting and negotiation of non-standard cases.
