| Educational and professional goals: |
The goals of the proposed Building bachelor's study programme with a standard length of study of 3 years is that the graduates of this programme:
may find employment in the field of specialization studied, in a position which is appropriate to a graduate of this programme both in the environment of the Czech Republic and also in the countries of the EU,
is able to apply the knowledge gained during their studies,
can be authorised as an authorised technician, after a prescribed length of experience, or may work as an authorised builder, in accordance with Act No. 360/1992 Coll.,
could study (usually after gaining the required experience and expanding their education to a required level) in the consequential Civil Engineering master's study programme at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Brno University of Technology, or at other specialised universities.
The Building bachelor's study programme with a standard length of study of 3 years is designed so as to allow the graduate of this study programme to gain essential knowledge of the natural sciences, and sufficient expert and practical knowledge and skills in the civil engineering area based on the present state of knowledge in the fields of civil engineering. Emphasis is also placed on the mastering of needed special applications which develop the practical activities and employability of the graduates of this study programme, designed so that the contents comply with the requirements stated in the Higher Education Act No.111/1998 Coll. - Act no. 360/1992 Coll. on the Pursuit of Activities of Authorised Architects and on the Pursuit of Activities of Authorised Engineers and Technicians Active in Construction, with the possibility of gaining accreditation as an accredited technician or accredited builder. The study plans of this programme do not comply with the standards stated in the documents Criteria for Accrediting Engineering Programs (Technology Accrediting Commission, ASCE, Baltimore, 2000) and Quality Assessment and Accreditation in Civil Engineering Education (Report of the EUCEET project, 2000).
