Admission requirements : Condition for admitting is a completed secondary education.
Educational and professional goals: The goals of the proposed bachelor's Civil Engineering study programme with a standard length of study of 4 years are that:
  1. a graduate of this programme should be able to become an authorised engineer after gaining a set length of professional experience in accordance with Act No. 360/1992 Coll and thus be entitled to pursue the following specialised and other selected activities:
    • the drawing up of design documentation for structures (including relevant land-use and town/city/urban planning background documents), except for such buildings/structures determined as significant in an architectural or urban respect under separate regulations, in land-use plans or pursuant to the decision of a land-use planning authority; this exception does not cover entry into commitments under generally binding legal regulations,
    • participation in the drawing-up of design documentation for buildings/structures determined as significant in an architectural or urban respect under separate regulations, in land-use plans or pursuant to the decision of a land-use and town/city/urban planning authority, and which is drawn-up by an authorised architect,
    • the drawing-up of land-use and town/city/urban planning background documents and relevant parts of land-use and town/city/urban planning documentation, the execution of static and dynamic analyses of structures,
    • the carrying out of structural engineering or engineering surveys,
    • the carrying out of testing and diagnostics of structures, unless it is dictated otherwise under a separate regulation,
    • the issuing of expert opinions, the drawing-up of documentation and assessments for the partial environmental impact assessment of structures, also for the purposes of proceedings before state authorities,
    • overseeing the execution of a structure,
    • the carrying out of geodesic surveying for design activities and lay-out work, unless dictated otherwise under separate regulations,
    • the carrying out of design or engineering supervision over the execution of a structure,
    • on the grounds of a letter of delegation, acting for the person who intends to carry out building work, or the designer in proceedings for obtaining land-use permission, building permission or a completion certificate,
    • the performance of expert functions in state administration bodies in the sector of building code or land-use planning, unless dictated otherwise under a separate regulation,
  2. the graduate should acquire qualifications equal to those of graduates of the currently accredited Bachelor's degree study programmes of the same length at the Civil Engineering Faculties of the Czech Technical University in Prague and the Technical University in Ostrava with regards to the length and quality of education,
  3. the graduate should be able to find better employment more easily not only in the Czech employment market but mainly in the countries of the European Union as he/she will have the required language qualifications,
  4. the graduate can continue his/her studies in the 3-semester consequent master's degree study programme at all civil engineering faculties in the Czech Republic as well as abroad.
Access to further studies: The graduates may continue in a master's study programme.
