The study programmes with the given course

Objective of the course – aims of the course unit:
Introduction of Spherical Astronomy, coordinate systems, time counting and measurement, basic tasks and methods of Geodetic Astronomy, instruments of classical Geodetic Astronomy.
Objective of the course – learning outcomes and competences:
The goal of subject are knowledges from Spherical Astronomy, coordinate and time systems, time conversions and basic tasks and methods of Geodetic Astronomy.
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of surveying with particular view of angular measurements, knowledge of plane and spherical trigonometry, Newton’s gravitational law, theory of free nutation.
Course contents (annotation):
Astronomical coordinate systems.
Apparent movement (day and night).
Time and time systems, standard epochs, calendar.
Transformation of coordinates and their differential changes.
Changes in equatorial coordinates, astronomical refraction.
Star catalogs and almanacs (FK4, FK5, catalog Hipparcos)
Geodetic Astronomy – principle of the methods. Instruments and equipment.

1.Entrance in Geodetic Astronomy.
2.Astronomical coordinate systems and their reciprocal transformations.
3.Incidence of Earth rotation.
4.Time and time systems.
5.Julian date and standard epochs, calendar.
6.Mean and apparent places of stars.
7.Methods of apparent places of stars computation.
8.Earth pole motion.
9.Conventional reference coordinate system.
10.Basic tasks of Geodetic Astronomy.
11.Instruments in Geodetic Astronomy.
12.Composition of the program of the observation.
13.Usage of Geodetic Astronomy
