Water Management and Water Structures

Abbreviation: VHS
Specialisation: -
Supervisor: prof. Ing. Miloš Starý, CSc.
Length of Study: 4 years
Programme: Civil Engineering
Faculty: Faculty of Civil Engineering
Academic year: 2011/2012
Issued topics of Doctoral Study Program:
  1. "The creation of the metodology for the evaluation of the impact, especially technical measures against - erosive and floods, on the retention, which enable the optimum design to look minimisation outlet and sediment runoff transport. Usage GIS. The verifaciton of the metodology on tho experimental river basins."

Supervisor: Starý Miloš, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Doležal Petr, doc. Dr. Ing.
  2. "The PhD. student will monitor selected small water courses and study the relationship between their morphology, water temperature and selected chemical and other parameters."

Supervisor: Starý Miloš, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Králová Helena, doc. Ing., CSc.
  3. "Mapping of areas with drainage, their condition, original potential vegetation, change of water regime, river and soil morphology and environment. Select areas with functional drainage. Find solution for use of those, where drainage function failed."

Supervisor: Starý Miloš, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Králová Helena, doc. Ing., CSc.
  4. The assessment and comparison of complex hyhropedological soil properties will be done on specific soil type on eroded and uneroded landscape position.

Supervisor: Starý Miloš, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Dumbrovský Miroslav, doc. Ing., CSc.
  5. "Get experiences in branch of plane and point laser anemometry for realization experiments at flow range. Enlargement range of given methods. Auton. realization measur., evaluation of velocity fields and their comparison with numerical model results."

Supervisor: Šulc Jan, prof. Ing., CSc.
    Tutor: Zubík Pavel, Ing., Ph.D.
  6. "The aim is to determine the characteristic stage of flow on the low weirs of shapes used in the current practice in various rate affected the bottom water and propose a suitable procedure for generalizing the calculation of their capacity, depending on the degree of flooding. "

Supervisor: Šulc Jan, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Šulc Jan, prof. Ing., CSc.
  7. The method of dam safety assessment against the failure due to internal erosion using the limit state method will be proposed including the proposal for the limit state condition. The limit and critical values of resistance quantities will be derived with corresponding reliability factors.

Supervisor: Šulc Jan, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Říha Jaromír, prof. Ing., CSc.
  8. "The experimental research on internal erosion of selected soils will be carried out, the data will be summarized and resistance criteria for reliability assessment will be proposed together with sensitivity analysis of the derived criteria."

Supervisor: Šulc Jan, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Říha Jaromír, prof. Ing., CSc.
  9. The aim of the thesis is to propose method for dam risk analysis. It will contain the assessment of the vulnerability of individual dam elements and of uncertainty in input data.

Supervisor: Šulc Jan, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Říha Jaromír, prof. Ing., CSc.
  10. The objective of this thesis is to create a methodology for stating uncertainties in selected methods for the flood risk analysis. Thesis will focus in detail on uncertainties in results of water flow hydrodynamic models.

Supervisor: Šulc Jan, prof. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Dráb Aleš, doc. Ing., Ph.D.
  11. "Goal of the thesis is solution of activated sludge separation. In the frame of research problems of final clarifiers hydraulic with high sludge concentration will be solved. Impact of inflow, flocculation area, depth of settling tank, buffers and water withdrawal will be examined. Research will be conducted on circular settling tanks and verified on real WWTP´s."

Supervisor: Tuhovčák Ladislav, doc. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Hlavínek Petr, doc. Ing., CSc.
  12. "The objective of the thesis is the design and verification methodology for evaluating the technical condition of public water supply systems with a focus on pumping stations, water tanks, transmission mains and water supply network. The work will be carried out design of evaluation criteria for each of the elements of water supply system, method of their determination and evaluation of each of them. The methodology will be tested on real water supply systems and is expected to processing and software applications for its use in practice."

Supervisor: Tuhovčák Ladislav, doc. Ing., CSc.
Tutor: Tuhovčák Ladislav, doc. Ing., CSc.
  13. "Removal of nitrogen compounds is key problem in design and operation of WWTP´s. Goal of research is identification of problems which can arise at WWTP and identification of measures for their minimization. In the frame of research problems of nitrification and denitrification process dimensioning and control, contribution of oxygen to denitrification and external substrate dosing will be solved. Results will be verified on real WWTP´s."

Supervisor: Tuhovčák Ladislav, doc. Ing., CSc.
