2. round (applications submitted from 09.11.2015 to 13.12.2015)

  1. Development and testing of cellulose separation technology from municipal wastewater.

Main goal of the thesis is design, testing and pilot testing of technology for cellulose separation from wastewater followed by energetic utilization. Technology for cellulose separation from wastewater will be developed. Based on laboratory testing pilot plat will be developed and tested on selected municipal WWTP´s.

Tutor: Hlavínek Petr, prof. Ing., CSc., MBA

  2. Development and testing of nitrate fertilizer acquisition from sludge water.

Main goal of the thesis is design, testing and pilot testing of technology for sludge water treatment with concurrent acquisition of nitrate fertilizer. Technology for ammonium striping from sludge water by means of FS and /or HF membrane will be developed. Based on laboratory testing pilot plat will be developed and tested on selected municipal WWTP´s.

Tutor: Hlavínek Petr, prof. Ing., CSc., MBA

  3. Microwave pyrolysis of sewage sludge.

Main goal of the thesis is evaluation of microwave pyrolysis of sewage sludge. Final product is oil, gas and Carbon. Work will be carried on pilot plant of microwave pyrolysis in AdMaS Centre. Work will be carried on in cooperation with faculty of chemistry and company BIONIC.

Tutor: Hlavínek Petr, prof. Ing., CSc., MBA

  4. Probability assessment of internal erosion potential using the method of limit states.

The aim is to design and validate methods of reliability assessment of hydraulic structures using limit states of filtration stability. Partial aims are analysis of failure modes of water structures due to filter deformation, defining conditions of limit state and deriving partial reliability factors.

Tutor: Říha Jaromír, prof. Ing., CSc.

  5. Removal of pharmaceutical products from wastewater by means of Advanced Oxidation technologies

Main goal of the thesis is evaluation of oxidation technologies for removal of residue of pharmaceutical products and their metabolites from wastewater. Work will be carried on pilot AOP plant enabling dosing of ozone in combination with hydrogen peroxide, UV radiation, and ultrasound. Work will be carried on in cooperation with faculty of chemistry and water board company “Vodovody a kanalizace Břeclav“ .

Tutor: Hlavínek Petr, prof. Ing., CSc., MBA

1. round (applications submitted from 23.06.2015 to 31.07.2015)

  1. Detection, processes of spreading and removal of dangerous substances in water supply networks in emergency situations

The aim of the PhD thesis will be, on the basis of delimitation and definition of water security of the Czech Republic, to define methods of on-line analysis of drinking water quality, to model and analyze the speed of contamination spreading in water supply networks, to define for individual pipeline materials and pipeline contaminants the risk of long-term contamination and to determine principles of security and protection of drinking water supplies.

Tutor: Raclavský Jaroslav, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  2. Investigation of the progression of seepage path

Using existing equipment at the Laboratory of hydraulic research the systematic research of progression of seepage path of selected soils will be carried out and erodibility parameters will be derived. The results will be statistically processed and corresponding uncertainties will be estimated as well. Numerical modelling of dam break due to progressive development of seepage path will be carried out using the parameters obtained.

Tutor: Říha Jaromír, prof. Ing., CSc.

  3. Optimizing of control of the membrane unit to clean the grey and rain water

The aim of the thesis will be an optimize control of the membrane unit to clean grey and rainwater for reuse in characteristic buildings. Work will focus on research into aeration time optimization with respect to the cleaning efficiency. The result of the research proposal will control algorithm. The management system will be based on the principle of fuzzy logic.

Tutor: Raclavský Jaroslav, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  4. Risk analysis of the sewer network

The aim of PhD dissertation will be implementation of the theory of risk analysis in sewer network. In the work will be defined main undesired event that may arise in the sewer network and may have to the operator and owner of infrastructure negative impact. To quantify the risk of these undesired events will be developed methodology.

Tutor: Raclavský Jaroslav, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  5. The simulation of distribution of micropollutants in sewer networks

The objective of the thesis will bet he simulation and modelling of selected micropollutants in sewer network. Assumes the use of software tools FLOW 3D, Ansys CFX, MIKE URBAN and SWMM for modelling of flow and velocity field in the sewer network.

Tutor: Raclavský Jaroslav, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  6. Uncertainty analysis in groundwater flow modelling

In the thesis induvidual uncertainties in groundwater flow modelling will be classified. The assessment method of impact on selected output variables (piezometric head, seepage amount, etc.) will be proposed for selected uncertainties. The analysis enables estimating of reliability of groundwater flow modelling.

Tutor: Říha Jaromír, prof. Ing., CSc.
