Issued topics of Doctoral Study Program
In addition to preventive maintenance systems also predictive principles are beginning to implement in lubrication of machine parts. This approach is called condition-based maintenance and lubrication. These systems require knowledge about the limiting states and lubrication conditions. The aim is to study experimentally the dependence between the initial evidence of limiting states of bearings and optimal lubrication parameters.

Define and describe how the environmental aspects are real reflected into product design practice in the field of industrial design.
Tutor: Křenek Ladislav, doc. akad. soch., ArtD.
The task is to apply the method of acoustic emission in diagnostics of functions of selected types of pneumatic and hydraulic components for transport industry with the aim of early identification of damage formation. The results will form the basis for the creation of professional equipment for the needs of industry.
Tutor: Mazal Pavel, doc. Ing., CSc.
Finding the a reliable method of diagnosis based on multi-parameter assessment of the status and operating conditions of low-speed (outsized) rolling bearings.
Motor oils composition significantly influences the internal combustion engine function. Appropriate additives selection can increase the engine efficiency and the life of components in relative motion. This study is aimed at the evaluation of the contribution of such additives on engine function.
Tutor: Křupka Ivan, prof. Ing., Ph.D.
Surface grooves significantly influence the behaviour of lubricated contacts. Their presence on rubbing surfaces can result in surface damage due to wear. This study is aimed at the evaluation of the effects of these grooves on lubrication film thickness within point contacts using optical tribometers.
Worm gear lubrication represents one of less understood problems in the field of elastohydrodynamic and mixed lubrication of point contacts. This study is aimed at the evaluation of the mechanisms of lubrication film formation within worm gears.
The aim is to develop a new building chambers for SLM technology experiments. The chamber allows testing of various metal powders based on aluminum. The project has an experimental character. The topic follows the current trend of research and development at foreign universities.
Tutor: Paloušek David, doc. Ing., Ph.D.
Lubricant within the contact is subjected to high contact pressure that influences its viscosity and density. Its behaviour can be also influenced by velocity profile across the film. This study is focused on the visualization of velocity profile and its description using optical tribometer.
The task is to develop and validate methodologies for the identification of structural changes that occur in cyclically loaded parts before the emergence of short fatigue cracks. Attention will be focused on materials developed by SLM (selective laser melting) and the possibility of correlation of damage degree in the signal of acoustic emission. If necessary, other suitable non-destructive testing procedures will be used.
The project is focused to industrial design, visual communication design specialisation. Theoretical art-historical project about historical links in both graphic and industrial design with an emphasis on the home region and international influences. Important personalities of regional design, design firms and major institutions, and their design, design education, etc. in the chosen period and the locality. Work objective is the treatment of the topic of industrial graphics (in whole, in detail) and its inclusion in the context of the development of design.
Tutor: Rajlich Jan, doc. Ing. arch.
The aim is to identify the influence of process parameters of SLM technology on selected mechanical properties of aluminum alloys. The project has an experimental character. The topic follows the current trend of research and development at foreign universities in the field of rapid prototyping and additive technologies.
Recently, in the service practice the EUSAMA chassis testing method fails when testing some cars. The project of new chassis tester will draw on analysis of the fail causes. The virtual model which will simulate the wheel behavior on the tester platform, hardware and software tools will be created during the project. The main goal of the project is a development of testing methodology and the construction of prototype of innovated car suspension tester, which will be able to penetrate the market.

The methods of near field acoustic holography are capable of reconstruction of acoustic quantities of examined object in 3D space. The basic principle is measurement of the acoustic pressure in suitable plane. Application of such modern methods in technical diagnostic is main goal of the project. The purpose of the project is verification of capabilities of this expensive and innovative technology which is purchased within NETME+ project.
Thermal effects due to the relative motion of rubbing surfaces play important role in lubrication film formation. This study is aimed at the evaluation of thermal effects on processes taking place within highly loaded central part of lubricated point contacts using the experimental data from optical tribometer.
At industrial application of most up to date analyzers of acoustic emission is sensing very extensive data files. The target of this doctoral studies is to propose and verify the procedures for dissociation of datas which respond to monitored operational changes and which make possible to filter out the disturbing influences and to optimise the size of processed files without the loss of their informative value.
The study of wear, friction and lubrication of contact surfaces of artificial hip joints is currently solved by the world's leading tribological workplaces, including the tribological research group of the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design. The aim of the thesis is to study mechanisms of formation of lubricating film between different contact surfaces of hip replacements using optical methods. The study will be conducted collaborating with University Hospital in Olomouc.

There are a lot of scientific articles dealing with application of magnetorheologic fluids in car suspension. However there are some drawbacks of MR fluids which are not usually discussed. Therefore the main goal of the study is to describe such "weak spots" at long-term operation. Continuation of original MR rheometer design development process is part of the project as well.
The aim is to describe and define how and with what results is reflected the application of plastics in industrial design.
