Programme: Manufacturing Technology

Length of Study: 4 years

Accredited from: Accredited until: 31.12.2020

Profile

The production technology in Ph.D study involves foundry and machining technologies, quality management and metrology, forming technology, welding and surface treatment technologies, inclusive of automation of the preparation of production as well as automation of manufacturing processes employing the above technologies. During their studies the students will get a profound knowledge of applied methematics, physical metalurgy, theory of experiments and optimization of technological processes in particular together with other theoretical and practical information closely related to the chosen field.

Issued topics of Doctoral Study Program

  1. On the influence of production technology of a spring steel, heat treatment and surface treatment to its utility properties

The work deals with a comprehensive assessment of the impact of spring steel production technology (casting, forming, heat treatment and surface finishing) on its utility properties. A typical subject of study is a coiled spring, used for example in the automotive industry. The influence of alloying elements, impurities, phases, their morphologies, quality of the surface layer on the integrity of the material, as well as the effect of heat treatment and thermomechanical processing, finishing and surface treatment on strength and fatigue properties of the material is included.

  2. Use of plasma to generating a modified surface on the steel sheet

The present state of knowledge at worse formability new coatings on metal, respectively. non-metallic base does not fully utilize the possibilities of the possible composition of the plasma, leading to further expand the limits formability of metal sheet forming operations bending and drawing. The aim of research at the Institute of Manufacturing Technology will be the establishment of process parameters of plasma jet systems for surface treatment of thin sheets for metal forming technology selected to increase the surface quality of parts after bending, pulling and reaching higher limits formability, especially for complicated shapes of parts with coatings. There is cooperation and other university laboratories, both in research and verification of new knowledge. To date published research findings at home and abroad are very limited in relation to the sheets, or they are generally conceived to macromolecular substances. The theme continues the program Competence Centers TAČR. Centre researches finishes no. TE 02000011 (year 2014).
