The ability of the doctoral student of an independent scientific work on the selected topic, familiarity with scientific work methodology, especially the problem analysis and synthesis of the findings and its creative application in the proposed solution.

The graduate is ready for an independent scientific and research work in the field of architecture and urban design theory, is able to solve practical problems in the field of architecture and urban design independently and at a scientific level, publishes outcomes of both practical and theoretical activities, also in any of the world languages, is able to teach at a higher-education institution.

Entry requirements

The master degree qualification in the branch of architecture or similar achieved at a higher-education institution in the Czech Republic or a school of architecture abroad.
Passing successfully the admission examination during which the applicant proves his/her interest and expert knowledge for a research work.

  1. Connection the rescue of industrial monument with development of the city.

    The goal of this work is response to the question „ It is possible to connect the rescue of industrial monument with the development of te city?“ Concept of revitalisation of abandoned areas and their buildings. This work would like to contribute in research of localisation former factory, which is their rule, that would guarantir their protection and adaptif reuse. The aproches of stakeholders. Study of examples from abroad dealing with similar problem and new projects and orientation „ Can Culture and Local and Regional Authorities Lead Europe Out of the Crisis?“

  2. Concept of energy self-sufficient of residental buildings and its influence on architectural design

    Creating a microclimate in buildings is one of the tasks of contemporary architectural design. New requirements for construction offers a new architectural solutions, the use of new technologies and materials. This trend is also reflected in the creation of a project when the architect has less and less time for think, self-reflection feedback evaluation of design.

  3. Determinants of translucent elements of historic buildings in architectural design

    The issue of exchange of filling the holes in the windows of historic buildings with respect to the current requirements offers a new architectural solutions. Assessment and determinants application of transparent elements and their influence on the formation of the architectural design.

  4. Environment of buildings and ionic microclimate of buildings in architectural design

    Architects in architectural design increasingly finds inspiration in new designs and technologies, but also in traditional principles and materials. Already in building design architect can greatly affect the microclimate of buildings suitable selection of materials and structures, surfaces and with the method ventilation. With regard to sustainable development, ion microclimate may also be an indicator of a healthy environment and can have a significant impact on the health and psychological well-being.

    The Doctoral Thesis is a qualitative examination of a new approach to the design of sports facilities focused on the requirements of sustainable construction.

    In the history of architecture, each of historical styles is characterized by its specific ornamentation. The dissertation should defend this thesis, based on analysis of the current trend of Digital architecture.
