Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Exam:
Consigned from written and oral part. Student has to gain minimum of 80 % success to advance to oral exam.

Course curriculum

1. Position of Forensic Engineering between disciplines, specificity of expert and assessor activity, special competency of expert, history of expert activity, legal regulation, term of Expert activity.
2. Appointment of experts (who appoints, conditions, suggestions, selection of persons, verification of conditions, expert branches, proceedings about appointment, removal of expert (who removes), conditions for removal, lists of experts, accessibility of lists.
3. Practice of expert activity (general requirements, expert professional secrecy, duty to make the expert evidence, consultant, usage of measuring equipment of organisation), expert activity at institutions, primary tasks of expert, summary of file, fullness of basic data, technical acceptability of basic data.
4. Scheme of expert evidence, appurtenance of evidence, preparation of finding, making of evidence.
5. Remuneration of expert activity (remuneration from public authorities, institutions, expert "ad hoc"), legal regulation of remuneration.
6. Control of expert activity, practise, equipment, test.
7. Expert activity in relation to public authorities, criminal proceedings, civil trial, designation of expert in various kinds of proceedings, agreement between expert and organisation or citizen.
8. Expert evidence in civil trial and criminal proceedings, criminal responsibility of expert, responsibility for damage.
9. Portion of expert on proof assurance - term of proof, basic principles, evidence, confrontation, identification, experiment, reconstruction, measurements, photography, photogrammetry, record, sample withdrawal, protocol.
10. Examination in criminal proceedings, experiment (preparation and administration, examination in various kinds of proceedings).
11. Application of legal rules in expert evidence, division of normative acts, technical norms (1964-1991, 1991-1997, from 1997), references, team work, operations after making expert evidence (examination, answers, addition to evidence).
12. Revisory expert evidence, exaction of expert remuneration (term, data, courts), education of technical experts.
13. Introduction to specific methodologies in Forensic Engineering.
