Instruction to creative graphics, short history of computer art home and abroad, vector image editors and their capabilities, aesthetically productive periodical functions, attractors, geometrical substitutions, artistic algorithms with random numbers, raster image editors and their capabilities, fractal graphics, 3D quaternion slices, Lindenmayer rewriting grammars, systems of affine transformations, periodical, non-periodical, and aperiodical mosaics, decorative nodes (topology and graphs), artistic processing of raster images, special drawing and other techniques (NPR algorithms), editors for 3D scenes modelling, practical exploitation of selected editors, text editors, combination of editors in image creation, future of creative graphics.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students will learn about the history and current status of the creative graphics tools for document creation. They will get acquainted with the principles, data models, data formats, and user interfaces of the selected graphics tools. They will also learn how to practically handle the selected graphics document creation tools. Finally, they will get acquainted with the possibilities to extend the graphics tools with plugins.

Improvement of general skills in computer usage.

  3. Vector image editors and their capabilities
  4. Aesthetically productive periodical functions, attractors, geometrical substitutions, artistic algorithms with random numbers
  5. Raster image editors and their capabilities 
  6. Fractal graphics, 3D quaternion slices, Lindenmayer rewriting grammars, systems of affine transformations
  7. Periodical, non-periodical, and aperiodic mosaics, decorative nodes (topology and graphs), artistic processing of raster images 
  8. Special drawing and other techniques (NPR algorithms) 
  9. Editors for 3D scenes modelling
  10. Practical exploitation of selected editors 
  11. Text editors 
  12. Combination of editors in image creation 
  13. Future of creative graphics

To learn about the history and current status of the creative graphics tools for document creation. To get acquainted with the principles, data models, data formats, and user interfaces of the selected graphics tools. To learn how to practically handle the selected graphics document creation tools. To get acquainted with the possibilities to extend the graphics tools with plugins.
