Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to use the information on hydrobiology in solving technical projects within chemistry and technology of environmental protection and engineering. Student will be able creatively and critically solve complicated technological projects in which chemical, biological and physical processes take place. He will have good piece of information on importance of biological processes in water management and other cohering fields and disciplines. He/she will be able to communicate in an interdisciplinary team to create optimum solutions by utilizing biological methods.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of hydrochemistry, technology of treatment of water.

Aims

The aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with the basics of hydrobiology and limnology. This should make easy to communicate with other professionals in the mainly in the field of water management (environmental protection, ichtyology, wstershed management, landscape planning etc.). Students will also have enough information to use biological methods in processes of biological wastewater treatment and biological methods of drinking water treatment.
