Environmental management

FP-RemKAcad. year: 2015/2016

The course deals with macroeconomic and microeconomic aspects of the environment - sustainable development, indicators, strategies for sustainable development in the EU and the Czech Republic. The main emphasis is on voluntary environmental tools and their applications in business conditions (environmental management systems EN ISO 14000, EMAS I, II, III). There is underlined the economic aspect in the lectures.

Lectures consist of an explanation of basic principles, methodology of the discipline, problems and their solutions.

Knowledge is verified by a case study.

1. Introduction. Assigning a case study.
Sustainable Development. Indicators of international organizations.
GRI indicators.
2. Voluntary instruments environment.
The concept of environmental management-EN ISO 14000 and EMAS I, II, III.
Implementation of the enterprise EN ISO 14000-A practical example.
3. Cleaner production – practical example.
4. Method of Life Cycle Assessment-LCA-practical example.
5. Eco-labeling, environmental claims II, III type - a practical example.
6. Environmental Management Accounting (EMA) in the company.
7. Assessing of the impact on the environment EIA.
8. Environmental reporting. Presentation of projects.
9. Presentation of case study.

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide to student basic knowledge of environmental aspects that should be respected at all levels of management. The course focuses on sustainable development indicators, as well as existing new EU Sustainable Development, as well as to sustainable development in the business environment - international indicators.
There are discussed voluntary environmental tools in the course. Also implementation of the environmental management system ISO 14000, cleaner production, life cycle assessment of the product LCA on practical examples is discussed. The course also includes environmental business economics - environmental management accounting, environmental costs, accounting for sustainable development. In the lectures is underlined the economic aspect of the issue and the focus is on learning the terminology.

There is defense of the project team during the semester.
