Summer Course 1

FP-Tlk1PAcad. year: 2015/2016

The students will learn to understand the issues involved in planning and organization of courses and stays in the countryside, and they will be acquainted with cooperation in a small and medium-sized group. The subject is based on a stay in the countryside and selected outdoor activities, including suitable equipment for them, and also on the legal aspects of outdoor disciplines and on the gaining of skills for life away from civilization.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course is focused on gaining information and knowledge about the fundamentals of stays and movement activities in the countryside. The students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge of a wide spectrum of activities in the outdoor environment, they will be able to lead, control and organize group and individual stays in the countryside. They will gain theoretical and practical knowledge of selected outdoor sports.

Prerequisites

Basic familiarity with the areas of summer movement activities and stays in the coutryside.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Exercises promote the practical mastery of subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of credit:

Participation in the course (50 points) and a knowledge test (50 points) with the result being 'pass' - "započteno" (at least sufficient) or 'fail' - "nezapočteno" (unsatisfactory).

Course curriculum

- The fundamentals of planning of summer outdoor tourism activities - cycling, hiking, water tours
- Orientation using a map. Work with the kilometrage of watercourses.
- Methodology of training in basic skills for hiking, cycling and water tours in still and flowing water.
- Basics of rescue, first aid and resuscitation, and the organization of a group engaging in water sports, cycling and in the countryside.
- Legal aspects of outdoor disciplines.
- Knowledge and skills needed for life away from civilization.

- Basic techniques - cycling, water tours (still and flowing water), hiking (walking, Nordic walking)
- First aid and resuscitation in the countryside.

Aims

The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with staying in the countryside and with selected outdoor activities. The students will learn to understand the issues involved in planning and organization of courses and stays in the countryside, and they will be acquainted with cooperation in a small and medium-sized group. The subject is based on a stay in the countryside and selected outdoor activities, including suitable equipment for them, and also on the legal aspects of outdoor disciplines and on the gaining of skills for life away from civilization.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in lectures and practical lessons which are part of the course. Cooperation in the dynamic flow of the course. Active leadership of a group, organization of a team, planning of daily programmes, preparation of a trip. Test of knowledge.
