Aqua Fitness and Swimming

To gain knowledge and skills in the area of aqua fitness and swimming which are necessary for the eradication of the inability to swim both in children and adults. To understand the importance of swimming for the all-round development of the organism, including remedial swimming and swimming after an injury. To learn the basics of first aid in the swimming pool as well as in free water. To prepare and professionally lead a swimming course for children and adults or organize and arrange a public swimming race.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

To understand the importance of aqua fitness and swimming for the all-round development of the organism. To gain knowledge and skills needed for the eradication of the inability to swim both in children and adults.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of human and working with your body, and the ability to swim 400m.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Exercises promote the practical mastery of subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of course-unit credit:
Participation in direct tuition (theoretical seminar + practical training) and rescue training basics. (max. 40 points). Possible absence (official letter with reason for absence) - lesson replacement in cases when there is more than one duly excused absence,
Methodological output - training in one swimming style (5 points, in case of 0 points - failed),
Methodological output - leadership lessons aqua aerobics (5 points, in case of 0 points - failed),
Written homework (swimming, water rescue, aqua aerobics) (5 points, in case of 0 points - failed),
Written test (35 points, a minimum to pass the theory test is 75%),
Active participation in the organization of a public swimming race (10 points, in the absence of seminary work).

Form of the examination and the final classification of the subject:
Within the framework of a classified credit, it is possible to obtain a maximum of 100 points, while the classification is as follows:

Course curriculum

- There are no lectures for this subject.

- Aqua gymnastics – applied gymnastics exercises and swimming elements focused on locomotive development. Use of flotation aids.
- Aqua jogging – jogging in shallow or deep water, involvement of large muscle groups.
- Aqua aerobics – a super-structure for the development of aerobic fitness.
- Swimming for fitness - development of certain muscle groups using basic swimming skills. Basics of the techniques of all swimming styles. Differences in the methodology used in the swimming training of children and senior citizens.
- Rescuing drowning people, first aid.
