Manga Drawing I - winter

FaVU-KKM - ZAcad. year: 2015/2016

Yumi Yahiro from the ASABI colege of Art in Tokyo will be the instructor of the course. The course has a semina/workshop format where students are informned about a particular type of mange drawing or the ways of drawing used in manga. The reasons for using a particular style and whether they are appropriate for the chosen theme are discussed. Students will experiment with various procedures and ways of understanding the topics. Communication will be enacted through words, thoughts, and commic bubbles.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to draw manga in various styles, according to the comics topics. They will create their own manga or will follow up their work from the previous semester. They can use the manga technique in drawing, other art mediums, or in any life situations.

Aims

Students will have a hands-on experience in the basic manga drawing techniques. They will acquire the basic knowledge of manga principles. Intercultural dialog is a chief part of the course as well.
